To the people who attended the Brews & News event Thursday afternoon.
Thank you to everyone who took time out of their day Thursday to attend the Brews & News event at the History Center of Freeborn County with Tribune Publisher Crystal Miller and Editor Sarah Stultz.
We enjoyed hearing your opinions about things that are currently in the newspaper and your tips for other things you might like to see us add, as well.
We hope you felt your time was worthwhile in hearing how things are going for our business and the newspaper industry. While the industry does not look the same as it used to, we hope you will continue to fight for us in the future through reading our pages, whether in digital or in print, or through advertisements.
If you were not able to attend, we have a similar event planned for 10:30 a.m. April 3 — that time with coffee. Mark your calendars now. We’re also considering an evening time for those who are not able to attend until after 5.
To Lake Mills wrestling coach Alex Brandenburg.
Hats off to Lake Mills head wrestling coach Alex Brandenburg, who at the Iowa state wrestling tournament last weekend was named the 2024-25 Class 1A Wrestling Coach of the Year.
Brandenburg leads an impressive program with an overall 518-122 dual record, eight state dual appearances and five top-10 team finishes at the traditional state tournament.
He has been with the program for 17 years and makes it a priority to focus on the team aspect of the sport rather than individuals.
This year he had two runner-up wrestlers, including his own son, and we congratulate him on all of his success.
To the Albert Lea Area wrestling team’s fourth-place team finish.
Congratulations to the Albert Lea Area wrestling team, who took fourth on Thursday in the state duals tournament.
The team has had a noteworthy season, and we are proud of all of their hard work.
Congratulations also to wrestler Logan Davis, who was the only Tiger to pick up a win in all three of his duals in the team tournament and was named to the Class AAA All-Tournament team at the conclusion of the day.
We look forward to seeing how the remainder of the tournament plays out.
To the 50-degree temperatures this week.
We’ve loved having 40 and 50-degree temperatures this week, giving us a little relief from the chilly temperatures from the week or two prior.
Looking ahead, temperatures will fluctuate in the 40s and lower 50s most of next week, with a mix of sun, rain and possibly snow in the forecast.
Take advantage of the fresh air you can get on the sunny days, as we’re not sure winter is behind us quite yet.
