Judy Mae Boyum Olson passed away peacefully on December 23, 2024 at the age of 81, surrounded by her family. Born in Albert Lea, MN, to George and Norma Boyum, Judy graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1961 and attended Augustana College before marrying her high school sweetheart, Keith Olson, in 1965.
Judy and Keith embraced a life full of adventure, beginning with their service in the Peace Corps. Over the years, they lived in St. Thomas, USVI; Dakar, Senegal; Williamsburg, VA; St. Louis, MO; and San Juan, PR, where they raised their son, Scott, and owned a small chain of boutique hotels. Their lives reflected Judy’s love of sunshine and her adventurous spirit. Later, they retired to Delray Beach, FL, to enjoy a quieter life.
Judy’s dazzling smile lit up every room she entered. She was stylish, warm, and charming, with a gift for making others feel special. Known for her thoughtful nature, she had a remarkable knack for choosing the perfect gift accompanied by a sweet handwritten note. Her grace, humor, and generosity left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
Judy is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Keith Olson; her son, Scott Olson; her brother, Richard Boyum; her twin sister, Julie Wallace; her niece, Debra Wallace; and many friends and family members who were touched by her light.
