Letter: It’s common sense

The Congressional Democrats are acting like crass, loud, foul-mouthed buffoons with their hissy-fits over the newly formed Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

The language they are using is offensive and embarrassing, especially for elected officials. I was going to ask if this is an example of behavior and language we wish our children to emulate? Then I remembered the antisemitic demonstrations on college campus last fall and realized the rotten apples in Washington have already infected our youth.

There was a time, not long ago, when neighbors, friends and family could get together and openly discuss their differing political opinions. While these discussions could get heated, they were always civil. This is no longer possible as the chasm runs so deep and is so bitter that political discussions are verboten at most gatherings.

I will confess, I cannot begin to understand the Democrats’ position on much of anything of late, especially the current brouhaha over DOGE. You would think that even the most jaded liberal would have the common sense to understand the need for a public accounting of taxpayer funds allocated to government agencies, NGO’s and foreign countries. Perhaps the Democrats just don’t care about waste. However, the most likely reason they are making threats and screaming profanities is because they realize that their schemes to enrich themselves and spread their obnoxious policies will be made public.

I learned long ago that once you lose your temper, you have lost control of the situation. Add foul language and you lose the respect of your peers.

Democrats need a strong dose of common sense.
