Administrator’s Corner by Marie Adams

As we enter spring, we take time to reflect on how much our students have learned and grown this year. From the first day of school to now, they have built new skills, deepened their understanding and developed confidence in their abilities.

This year, our teachers have played a vital role in supporting student growth by implementing our new Wit & Wisdom literacy curriculum, engaging in professional learning grounded in the Science of Reading, and focusing on student well-being through the Teach to Heal framework. Their dedication has ensured that students receive high-quality instruction while also being supported socially and emotionally.

In reading, students have made strides in decoding words, understanding complex texts and building their vocabulary. They have developed skills that allow them to read fluently and comprehend what they are reading on a deeper level. In math, students have worked hard to master foundational concepts like decomposing numbers, solving multi-step word problems and applying mathematical reasoning to real-world situations. These achievements are the result of persistence, practice and strong instructional support.

As we approach the final stretch of the school year, I encourage students to take pride in their progress and recognize how much they have accomplished. Every new skill learned, every challenge overcome and every goal met is something to celebrate.

Looking ahead, we will continue to build on this foundation and set new goals. The work students and teachers have done this year will carry forward, preparing them for future success. Thank you to our staff for their unwavering commitment to student learning, and to our caregivers for their partnership in education.

At Hawthorne, we will finish the year strong and celebrate all that we have achieved together!
