Daylight saving time begins this weekend, so don’t forget to turn your clocks ahead an hour Saturday night before you go to bed or you will be late to your obligations Sunday morning.
The time switch officially occurs at 2 a.m. on the second Sunday of March and continues through 2 a.m. on the first Sunday of November.
The idea behind daylight saving time is to advance clocks so people can make better use of the longer daylight hours during the summer months.
It was adopted by the United States in 1918, and all but two states observe the practice, while Hawaii and Arizona do not.
About 34 percent of countries around the world use it as well.
Whether you love daylight saving time or hate it, it will be nice to have what seem like longer days once we wake up each morning.
While we’ll lose an hour of sleep on Saturday night as we move our clocks forward, the increased daylight hours will be welcome.
