The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch from late Tuesday night through Wednesday evening for Freeborn County and the surrounding area as a strong spring system is expected to move into the area.

Total snow accumulations between 4 and 8 inches are possible with winds gusting as high as 45 mph.

The Weather Service stated similar to other March storms, this storm will start as rain before transitioning to snow. Heavy snow rates of an inch per hour are possible within the watch area.

The falling and blowing snow will lead to reductions in visibility, including possible blizzard conditions.

Travel could be treacherous and potentially life-threatening, the Weather Service stated.
