Judith Mittag

Judith Kay Bergstrom (Draayer/Mittag) passed away suddenly, but peacefully on February 13th, 2025, at St. Elizabeth’s Healthcare Center in Wabasha, Minnesota.
Judy was born on August 24th, 1943, in Austin, Minnesota living on the farm with her family in Oakland, Minnesota. She graduated from Austin High School, while working a bookkeeping position at a local clothing store. Judy then worked in the healthcare field while also working for the United States Postal Service. Judy’s 43-year career in the USPS brought her to Glenville, Minnesota, where she served as Postmaster until she retired to care for her elderly parents. Judy then spent many years in the kitchen while employed with the YMCA Camp Pepin.
Judy was baptized & confirmed at Moscow Lutheran Church, where she also played the organ & piano. Judy became a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Albert Lea, MN where she was a Sunday school teacher, Sunday school office assistant & served on many committees. After moving to Glenville, MN she became a member of First Lutheran Church. Ultimately Judy’s faith led her to Faith Lutheran Church in Wabasha where she was a member until her passing.
Judy was also very known for her lefse recipe & skills, donating & selling to many. She loved to watch the Twins and spent as much time in Ft. Myer’s & Lake Havasu as she could. She was a lifelong member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Judy was very involved with the great people & events in each small community she lived filling her calendar full.
Most of all, Judith enjoyed spending time with her family. She is survived by her son, Brian Draayer, and his wife Jill; daughter, Brenda Draayer/Kuettner, and her husband Steve; six very special grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and nephews, Jeremy and John Bergstrom; and her goddaughter, Jackie Smeby Veney, with whom she shares her birthday. Judy is preceded in death by her parents, Richard & Eunice (Underland) Bergstrom and brothers, Jerry & James.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 on Saturday, May 3rd, 2025 at Faith Lutheran Church, located at 905 Hiawatha Drive East, Wabasha, Minnesota.
Final resting place will be with her parents, Richard and Eunice and brother Jim at Oakwood Cemetery in Austin, MN.
