“United Through Music” is the theme and March is “Music in Our Schools Month.”

Monday’s concert featuring ALHS award-winning bands, did just that: United us all through music!

They literally blew off the high school auditorium roof, beginning with the Tiger Band, continuing the Symphonic Band, mixed in an award-winning clarinet choir piece, Concert Band, and concluded with a Concert/ Symphonic Band combo platter.

The quality and the complexity of the concert was beyond belief.

Adding to the musical experience, was the introductions and backgrounds of the pieces themselves, vocally delivered by the students. No easy feat, standing front and center, delivering a message to an auditorium-filled crowd! But they did it.

This concert was led by the strong baton of Ms. Suzanne Mauer (no relation to Joe I think). Her leadership was unsurpassed, and it was gratifying to see the vast number of students involved, a tribute to her and our schools for encouraging music development at all levels of age.

Many more concerts, both vocal and instrumental, are being offered this month and the months ahead. Do yourself a favor, and put them on your calendar! You will not be disappointed, and you will find there is much positive to be found in today’s students. Support them all!

Thank you for a wonderful evening of music. Music truly is the universal language of peace that we so desperately need today.
