The members of Scarville Lutheran Church have been busy working at their new church building, getting it ready for its dedication day on April 6.
Last July, Scarville Lutheran Church purchased the building from Immanuel Lutheran Church, which had built the church in 1952. The members of Immanuel Lutheran Church, part of the One in Christ Lutheran Parish, had their final service last July. Though they closed their doors, they wished that their church building would continue to be used as a place of worship. They were happy to sell their beautiful brick edifice to Scarville Lutheran Church.
Scarville Lutheran Church definitely had use for the new space. The first thought was that the church building would be used for the growing Scarville Lutheran School, a ministry of the church.
However, sanctuary space was getting quite tight at the 411 Logan St. church building, and it became evident that it would be best to move services to the larger sanctuary space at the former church building.
Though services are moving locations, the Scarville Lutheran Church building will not sit empty. The school will have full use of the building and will modify it for the its needs.
Scarville Lutheran Church, served by Rev. Joshua Skogen, has been blessed to use its current church building since her founding in 1918.
It will be a strange move for the many members of the congregation who, for years, have been regularly gathering at the current church to receive Jesus’ forgiveness, grow in the knowledge of God’s Word, enjoy communion with the Lord and one another in the Sacrament of the Altar, be strengthened in saving faith and in the Christian life, and to be comforted by the promises of God in his Word.
This gospel-centered ministry of the congregation will not go away, nor will it change. The members will simply have services in a new location at 105 E 3rd St. in Scarville.
The congregation invites the community to check out and enjoy the fellowship in the gospel of Christ.
Scarville Lutheran Church’s final service at its current location will be at 11 a.m. Sunday, April 6.
The dedication of the new sanctuary will be that afternoon at 2:15 p.m.
Weather permitting, the dedication service will begin at the old church and the assembly will process to the new church. Otherwise, the service will begin at the new church.
