Albert Lea city clerk elected to leadership position with statewide clerk’s association

Daphney Maras, city clerk for the city of Albert Lea, has been elected to the position of vice president for the Municipal Clerks and Finance Officers Association of Minnesota (MCFOA) for 2025-26. The election was held during the Association’s annual meeting on March 20.

Maras has served the MCFOA on several different committees since 2020, Region VI director from 2020-2023, treasurer in 2023-2024 and secretary in 2024-2025.

The MCFOA was established in 1937 to promote professional standards for city clerks and finance officers. Today, the association is 900-plus members-strong and provides educational and networking opportunities through regional meetings, annual conference and continuing education workshops for its certification program.

Maras has been employed by the city of Albert Lea since 1998. She earned the designation of MCMC (Minnesota Certified Municipal Clerk) from the MCFOA in 2018 and received her MMMC (Minnesota Master Municipal Clerk) in 2025. She also holds the designation of Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) from the International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC) which she earned in 2019 and her Master Municipal Clerk (MMC) in 2025.
