Albert Lea Community Theatre announces auditions for ‘Matilda – The Musical’

Albert Lea Community Theatre announces auditions will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday and from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday for Roald Dahl’s “Matilida – The Musical” at the Marion Ross Performing Arts Center, 147 N. Broadway in Albert Lea.
Those auditioning should be prepared to sing and read from the script. On Saturday, auditions for children will be held from 9 to 11 a.m., and for adults from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. On Sunday, auditions for children will be from 6 to 7 p.m., and for adults from 7 to 9 p.m.
“Matilda – The Musical” centers on a little girl with astonishing wit, intelligence and psycho-kinetic powers. She’s unloved by her cruel parents but impresses her schoolteacher, Miss Honey. During her first term at school, the two forge a bond as Miss Honey begins to recognize and appreciate Matilda’s extraordinary personality. Matilda’s school life isn’t completely smooth sailing, however. The school’s mean headmistress, Miss Trunchbull, hates children and enjoys punishing those who don’t abide by her rules. But Matilda has courage and cleverness in equal amounts and could be the school pupils’ saving grace.
