Organization: SEMCAC
Project: The organization purchased an upright freezer and reusable trays for its meal program.
Report: SEMCAC thanks the Freeborn County Communities Foundation for its generous support. With the funds that were allocated, they purchased an upright freezer for their Albert Lea kitchen. This freezer is utilized to store home-cooked freezer meals that are prepared offsite and given to help support those in rural Freeborn County.
Utilizing these meals they are able to ensure that they are prepared with limited preservatives and salt, and with their blast freezer they can ensure they stay nutritious and retain their flavors.
They were able to purchase more reusable meal trays and meal delivery bags for the route in rural Freeborn County and for routes that deliver meals within the city limits of Albert Lea. Altogether in 2024, the organization served over 37,500 meals to older adults in Freeborn County.
“Contributions from organizations like yours help us meet our 15% match that is required from our funders and also helps us make investments in equipment and other supplies that allow us to be sustainable not only as a program, but for the environment as well,” the report stated.
