Citizens of Mower and Freeborn counties are joining forces in a “Hands Off Social Security Rally” to show support for this essential program.
The rally is planned for 5 p.m. Monday in front of the Social Security building at 404 Second St. NW in Austin.
Recent attacks on the Social Security program, by both President Donald Trump in his speech to Congress and by Elon Musk in his comments, demonstrate a willingness to dismantle the Social Security program, according to a press release.
In Minnesota, 1.2 million people rely on Social Security benefits.
Martin O’Malley, a former head of the Social Security Administration, says that the current administration is trying to break it by undermining trust, running it into the ditch and ultimately privatizing it.
Local citizens are rallying to show their support for the Social Security that they have paid into and count on.
