Irene Violet Tandeski (Olson), 92, of Albert Lea, Minnesota passed away peacefully on Friday, April 18, 2025, at the Oak Park Place.

Irene was born on October 25, 1932, in Easton, Minnesota to the late Bert and Lillian Olson. She was the second child of 13 children. She was a graduate of Wells High School, upon graduation she attended St. Mary’s Nursing School in Rochester, Minnesota. She worked as a nurse for 41 years, serving in various facilities such as the Naeve Hospital before becoming the Mayo Clinic.

Irene married David Neitzel on January 13, 1952, and to this union two children were born: Jerry and Debra. David passed away in January of 1975 leaving behind precious memories with Irene and the children. Irene would later remarry in November of 1977.

She was known for her love of mystery bus tours that she would take often with her aunt Mildred. She was a member of the Red Hat Society. She was an active member of her church and the senior center; she loved playing bingo and many other social games. She enjoyed the company of others and friends during her visits to Hardee’s Restaurant. Many people knew her and loved her for her resilience and honesty.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents, Bert and Lillian Olson, husband, David Neitzel, son, Jerry Neitzel, sisters, Adeline Baker, Marlene Wedin, Elnora Ziegler, and Cindy Olson, and brothers, Howard Olson, and David Olson.

She leaves behind precious memories with her daughter, Debra (Mark) Thompson, six grandchildren, six great grandchildren, six siblings, and survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, family, and friends.
