It is a regular occurrence to open our local newspaper and read letters filled with anger and vitriol aimed at our state Rep. Peggy Bennett. One beautiful thing about America is that we have the freedom to express our own opinions and to practice strong debate over personal and controversial issues. However, it just seems to work better for everyone in society when debate is conducted with civility and respect. Our state representative’s values reflect respect, dignity and integrity; and Peggy treats everyone with these same values.

Peggy has faithfully served our local community as a youth worker, a teacher for 33 years, and for several terms now as our state representative.

Everyone who knows Peggy well understands that she is a woman of great love, compassion, service, generosity and upright living. In all my years of observing elected officials, I have never seen a public servant serve with such passion, presence, grace and heart. Peggy is everywhere, serving and meeting with constituents, with her hand to the plow of public service.

Peggy does her very best in all situations to serve all of her constituents. She is the gold standard of how public servants should conduct themselves. Over the years, Peggy, by her service, has earned the love, honor and respect she deserves. She is held in such high esteem that the majority of voters have returned her to office time after time.

She has also earned the respect of her colleagues at the State Capitol, and rightly so.

My hat is off to Peggy for her exemplary service. No attempts to demonize her will be successful against her. She is faithful, steady and stalwart in every season. She is a leader who can be trusted.
