Students at Southwest Middle School on Friday will perform their annual spring play, “Murder at the Art Show,” a one-act comedy mystery portraying a group of quirky characters as they try to save — or tank — Harriet Anderson Gallery, also known as HAG.
The show’s directors are Laura Stegman and Alissa Sauer. Stegman is a math teacher at the middle school, and Sauer is an art teacher.
“It’s about basically an art gallery trying to save itself from going completely broke, and they’re trying to sell the most valuable paintings,” said Stegman, also promising that the show will be a wild ride.
When choosing this year’s play, she said the goal was to choose something that was fun and entertaining not just for the audience, but for the students as well. They also wanted to have a shorter play. “Murder at the Art Show,” checked all the boxes.
“I’m just very excited for the final production,” Stegman said.
“Murder at the Art Show” will be performed at 7 p.m. Friday at the Southwest Middle School auditorium. Tickets are $5 for everyone over age 6 and can be purchased at the door the night of the event. Children under age 6 get in for free.
