WCTA CEO honored with ICA Advocate of the Year award

Winnebago Cooperative Telecom Association (WCTA) announced that CEO Mark Thoma was named the Advocate of the Year by the Iowa Communications Alliance (ICA). The award was presented during the 2025 ICA Annual Meeting & Expo held March 24-26 in Des Moines.

The Advocate of the Year award recognizes individuals who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and commitment to advancing the telecommunications industry in Iowa, according to a press release.

The press release also stated that Mark Thoma’s dedication to advocating for reliable broadband access and his active involvement in legislative and regulatory matters have significantly contributed to the growth and development of rural telecommunications in the state.

The Iowa Communications Alliance represents more than 116 community-based telecommunications providers offering broadband, telephone and digital television services to Iowans. The organization provides leadership and advocacy in state and federal legislative and regulatory matters, promoting an environment that allows its members to succeed in serving their communities.
