Memorial Day weekend flea market
There will be a flea market from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Freeborn County Fairgrounds. There will be antiques, tools, art, collectibles, books, gifts and more. Call 507-320-1717 or visit midwestcrossroadsmarket@gmail.com for more information.

Wells VFW adult prom
The Wells VFW will host their second annual adult prom at 7 p.m. Saturday at the VFW at 23 S. Broadway in Wells. There will be dinner, music provided by DJ Dave, raffles, spiked punch and more. Country Roads Floral and Gifts in Wells will have consignment dresses for sale.

Pelican Breeze II season opener
Pelican Breeze II will start cruising Albert Lea Lake for the season on both Friday and Sunday for the Memorial Day weekend.
Board the boat at Frank Hall Park, with the cruises leaving at 6 p.m. Friday and 1:30 p.m. Sunday. Cost to ride is $15.
Reservations are recommended for the 1-1/2-hour cruise at 507-383-7273. Everyone is encouraged to bring your favorite snack, lunch or dinner and choice of beverage.

“What Does a School Board Do?”
School Board member Neal Skaar will lead a presentation, “What Does a School Board Do?” as part of the Dorothy Godtland Lecture Series from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Albert Lea Art Center. Skaar will explain what functions the school board provides the district, including developing policies, overseeing budgets, hiring superintendents and other subjects. There will be a Q and A at the end of the program. This event is free to attend.

Gallery 818 grand opening
All are invited to the grand opening of Gallery 818, Northwood’s newest creative space dedicated to celebrating local and regional art. It will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at 818 Central Ave in downtown Northwood. Light refreshments will be served.
