Albert Lea boy injured in Hayward crash

A 7-year-old boy was injured Thursday afternoon after a crash on Freeborn County Road 46 in Hayward.

The child, Jeremiah Sierra McCormick, was taken by ambulance to Mayo Clinic Health System, according to the Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash report stated the child was one of three passengers in a 2013 Cadillac XTS driven by Karena Danielle Sierra, 26, of Albert Lea. Sierra and the other passengers, Anarcah Amirah McCormick, 3, and Naleiah Adelite McCormick, 1, were not injured.

According to the report, the Cadillac was westbound on Freeborn County Road 46 approaching 810th Avenue when a 2010 Ford Fusion, driven by Calli Ann Nelson, 20, of Glenville reportedly pulled out from a stop sign in the southbound lane on 810th Avenue and the two vehicles collided in the intersection.

The vehicles then crashed into a 2008 Freightliner, driven by Kidaneaale Dejene, 40, of Minneapolis, that was eastbound on County Road 46 and waiting to turn southbound on 810th Avenue.

The crash occurred at 1:10 p.m. Thursday.
