The 2025 fishing season kicked off with some impressive catches during the Albert Lea Anglers Opener Extravaganza, sponsored by Sanderson Auto.
The annual event, held on opening weekend, drew enthusiastic participation and serious talent. Competitors were judged based on the total length of a stringer of three fish in each category: walleye, northern pike and bass.
In the walleye category, Grant Flategraff took first place with a total of 69.50 inches, followed by Braylon Moyer in second place with 48.25 inches.
The northern pike division saw some of the weekend’s biggest hauls. Kellan Johnson earned top honors with 85.25 inches, while Easton Loverink secured second place with 80.5 inches.
For bass, Evan Schroeder landed the top spot, stringing together 54.25 inches, with Kellen Johnson close behind at 51.50 inches, rounding out the leaderboard.
