More money still needed to reach $20K goal

The Albert Lea-Freeborn County Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors and volunteers raised about $5,780 Friday for the annual fireworks display.

Volunteers stood at the corners of Broadway and Clark Street for the Buckets on Broadway fundraiser.

Volunteers were met with cooler temperatures than in recent days, along with heavy winds and a period of light rain in the afternoon.

Chamber Executive Director Shari Sprague said she is not sure yet how the chamber will raise the remaining funds needed to reach the $20,000 goal.

The fireworks are deployed from city property west of the Blazing Star Landing.

Sprague said donations and sponsorships are always welcome, and people can drop off donations to the chamber office at 132 N. Broadway.
