Dorothy Elaine Hill, age 96, passed away peacefully Saturday evening, May 3 at Pomeroy Living Orion-Assisted Living. Dorothy was born in Worth County, IA on May 22, 1928 to Arthur K. and Selma L. (Henderson) Horvei. She graduated from Lake Mills High School in 1946. Dorothy moved to Albert Lea, MN and began working for Munsingwear.

On October 18, 1947 Dorothy was united in marriage to Vance I. Hill in Chicago, IL. They owned and operated VANDOR Aerial Photography Studio in Wisconsin for 22 years. After selling the business in 1979, they moved to Arkansas. While there Dorothy worked at Multiway and made many friends.

In 1994 Vance and Dorothy returned to Albert Lea to be near family. Dorothy enjoyed traveling, sewing, baking, and a few soap operas. After Vance passed away in 2004, Dorothy continued to live in the house that she loved. In 2022 she moved to lower Michigan to be near family. In her new surroundings she enjoyed live music and visits from family, especially the youngest great grandchildren.

Dorothy is survived by three children: Larry (Suzanne) Hill, Darwin (Mary) Hill, and Renae (Kent) Woiak, seven grandchildren: Lance (Jennifer) Hill, Todd (Terri) Hill, Jonathan (Lisa) Hill, Samantha (Matt) Bashara, Patrick Woiak, Riley (Gina) Woiak, Summer (Daniel) Madison, twelve great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Vance; two brothers, Alton and Donald.

A private funeral service was held Thursday, May 8, 2025 at Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home in Lake Orion, Michigan.  Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery at a later date.
