The Glenville-Emmons School District Board of Education on Wednesday announced the appointment of Heidi Venem as the district’s new superintendent, effective July.  The board unanimously selected Venem for her dedication to student success, community involvement and commitment to academic excellence.

Venem brings over 25 years of experience in education, having served as director of special education and student services at Mason City School District. Known for fostering inclusive learning environments and building strong community partnerships, Venem is poised to lead Glenville-Emmons Schools into its next chapter, the district said in a press release.

“We are thrilled to welcome Heidi to our district,” said Tabitha Page, chair of the Board of Education. “She stood out as a candidate for her deep understanding of the needs of students and families. She is  local to our community and is excited to help our small school thrive.”

In accepting the role, Venem stated, “I am honored to join Glenville-Emmons School District and look forward to working collaboratively with the board, staff, families and community to ensure every student  thrives academically, socially and emotionally.”

The search for a new superintendent began after shared Glenville-Emmons/Alden-Conger Superintendent Allen Berg submitted his resignation in February for a new opportunity closer to family, effective June 30 for both districts.

The districts in the weeks after voted to end their shared superintendent position and instead each hire their own.
