Joyce May Reeder

Joyce May Reeder passed to her eternal home in heaven on May 18, 2025 at 81 years old, after a long battle with Alzheimers. Joyce was born on March 28, 1944 in rural Freeborn, Minnesota to Paul and Luella (Huebner) Hohansee.

Joyce grew up on her family’s farm outside of Freeborn, having five brothers and one sister. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church. In May 1967 she married Larry Reeder and raised two daughters together, making their home over the years in Northwood, Iowa, Itasca County, Minnesota, Glenville, Minnesota and enjoyed her retirement with her husband in Elysian, Minnesota. Throughout the years Joyce worked many jobs to help support the family. She enjoyed homemaking, sewing, gardening, bowling, and was a wonderful wife, mother and grandma.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents and brothers John, David, Dave and Bill Hohansee. She is survived by her loving husband Larry Reeder; daughters Stephanie (David) La Due and Ginny Hermel; grandchildren Valerie La Due, John La Due, Joe Hermel and Jesse Hermel; one great-grandson, August Hermel; brother James Hohansee; sister Margaret Sindt; and several nieces and nephews.

Joyce will be cremated and a celebration of life will be determined at a future date.
