A letter to the editor in the May 21 Albert Lea Tribune gives an opinion on the Wilson strike in 1960. The writer blames the violent union people as the reason many industries have walked away from Albert Lea.

I started working at Wilson Foods in 1969. Part of my job was to observe and have contact with those so-called violent union people. There were about a thousand union people working there at that time.

Many of the jobs were very physical and repetitive. Those union people worked very hard on some very difficult jobs. They had a tremendous work ethic.

Most of those union people were very pleasant to deal with. Many had a great sense of humor. I was very fortunate to be with those union people on a daily basis. Any industry would want union people of that caliber working for them.
