Event also includes bake sale, with proceeds going to Walk to End Alzheimer’s
As one of its ways to reach out to the community, Oak Park Place will sponsor its annual Garden Show and Bake Sale on June 18.
Sindy Fulton, director of sales at Oak Park Place, said five businesses are slated to come to show off some of their floral arrangements and home decor. The event runs from 2 to 3 p.m.
“Whether you’re a seasoned gardener or just looking to add a touch of nature to your space, this show has something for everyone,” the event flyer states.
Fulton said Oak Park Place has sponsored the event for a few years now. Attendees will have the chance to register for door prizes provided by the participating businesses.
Businesses showcasing this year include Addie’s Floral & Gifts, Albert Lea Seed House, Hill’s Gardens, Hilltop Greenhouse and Hy-Vee.
Fulton said she hopes people will come and enjoy the event. All of the proceeds from the bake sale will go to support the Walk to End Alzheimer’s. She anticipated everything from cookies to breads and cakes.
“It’s always nice to get new people to come in and see Oak Park Place and take part in a fun event,” she said.
People are asked to RSVP by June 16 by calling 507-373-5600 or emailing albertleasales@oakparkplace.com.
The senior living facility also hosts other community events, including classes on Alzheimer’s, long-term care planning, estate planning and funeral planning, to name a few.
It started up an Alzheimer’s support group last fall that meets every second Tuesday of the month at 5:30 p.m. This gives caregivers of loved ones with Alzheimer’s or dementia a way to share their experiences and talk to others.
