Rural New Richland man dies after getting trapped in grain bin

A rural New Richland man died Monday morning after he was trapped inside an overhead grain bin at his farm, according to the Waseca County Sheriff’s Office.
The victim, 75-year-old Michael Supalla, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Sheriff’s Office stated on its Facebook page that it received a 911 call for assistance at approximately 11:20 a.m. The man’s wife called for emergency assistance after she was unable to make contact with her husband who was inside the bin, which contained corn.
Waseca County Sheriff’s Office, New Richland Police Department, New Richland Fire & Rescue, Waseca Fire & Rescue, Ellendale Fire & Rescue, and North Memorial Ambulance personnel responded to the scene.
