The 31st Eddie Cochran print, by artist Eloise Adams, has been finished.
Prints can be seen at Adams Originals store. Some prints are in black and white while some are handpainted.
Eddie Cochran Days’ theme this year is “Return to the fabulous fifties.”
Born Oct. 3, 1938, in Albert Lea, Eddie Cochran was only 17 years old when he had his first hit, “Sittin’ on the Balcony.” In Hollywood he was called “the James Dean of rock ‘n’ roll.”
Albert Lea is proud of Eddie Cochran, proud of his music and the many records he made before he died at age 21 in a car crash on his way to the airport to fly home from England to spend Easter with his family.
Shown on this year’s print is a picture of Eddie when he was on tour in England and an early picture of Eddie when he was 2 years old. The lyrics to his song, “Dark and Lonely Street,” also appear on the print.
Additionally, the print features a drawing of the Wilson plant, where Eddie’s father, Frank Cochran, worked.
The following notable Albert Lea people are featured on the lower half of the print:
- Todd Hoenish, now the owner of Church Offset Printing
- Curtis Smith, owner of Arrow Printing and several other businesses
- Jamie Kyllo, an attorney for over 25 years
The following cars from the car show are also shown on the print:
- Glen Juveland’s car, “Super Sport” 1967 Chevelle; Juveland drove the car when he proposed to his now wife, and they both still enjoy the car.
- Larry Ille’s 1957 Ford, Custom 300
- Carmen Radke’s bright orange 1972 Buick Skyark; Radke passed away not long ago.
- Troy Johnson’s Challenger 2014 RT and a Corvette owned by Coltan Johnson
Eddie always signed his autographs with his name and the words “Don’t forget me!”
Eddie’s family is pleased Albert Lea has not forgotten him.
