5 things to do this week: Choir concert, Take a Kid Fishing Weekend and more

Lake Song Choir concert
As a wrap-up to a successful first season, Lake Song Chorus will perform a concert, “It’s a Wonderful World,” and everyone is invited to see what they have been working on. The concert will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. John’s Lutheran Community’s Luther Place campus. There will be a $5 suggested donation to help fund choirs in the future.

Escape room challenge
As part of the Albert Lea Public Library’s summer reading program, families and teens are invited to have a fun escape room experience. It will be on Thursday at Southwest Park with sessions running from 4 to 8 p.m. Each session will be open to a group of four to six participants, and groups will have 30 minutes to find the secret password that will unlock the door. Preregistration is required. Call the library at 507-377-4350 to register.

Blessing of the Bikes
Albert Lea Vineyard Church will host a special event, Blessing of the Bikes, from 10:30 a.m. to noon Sunday at the church. Motorcycles, scooters, bicycles and tricycles are all welcome, and there will be free hot dogs, chips and beverages.

Summer in the City
The Wells Area Chamber of Commerce will host a festival, Summer in the City, from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday in downtown Wells. There will be family-friendly fun, including music and a foam dance party, and local businesses will have booths for people to check out.
Preceding the fun in the afternoon, Rakow Ranch mobile petting zoo will be at Halfmoon Park basketball courts from 10 to 11 a.m. as part of the Wells Library Foundation’s summer reading program.

Take a Kid Fishing Weekend
The Fountain Lake Sportsmen’s Club and Albert Lea Anglers will host a free fishing rod giveaway from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Edgewater Park for Take a Kid Fishing Weekend.
Children under 16 can fish with a parent without a license from Friday through Sunday.
