1
Juneteenth Celebration
Celebrate Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day, at 6 p.m. Thursday at Edgewater Bay Pavilion. There will be speakers — including North Iowa-based comedian, Day Peace — performers, learning, refreshments and more. Following the event there will be a water balloon fight. This event is free, open to the public and organized by Albert Lea Recreation and Riverland Community College. The event this year will honor John Smith, an Albert Lean who organized Juneteenth events in the city even before it became a nationally-celebrated holiday.
2
Pride Festival
Albert Lea’s annual Pride Festival, presented by the Albert Lea Convention and Visitors Bureau, Historic Downtown Albert Lea and Albert Lea Recreation, will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at Central Park. The rain date will be Sunday. There will be crafts and face painting, bounce houses and yard games, Zumba Jams with Kristy, live music from Eclipse, Ruthless Ruth and more. There will be an afterparty, Pride and Pints, at Mom’s Bread Co. Tickets to the party at Moms Bread Co. are $20 and available at the Convention and Visitors Bureau office.

Simply Built Rigs Truck and Car Show
Simply Built Rigs will host its second annual truck and car show all day Saturday at the Freeborn County Fairgrounds. In addition to the truck and car show, the event will have food trucks, a beer garden, live music by Will Barnett and Company and more. Cost to enter a vehicle is $40 and an additional $20 to enter the burnout competition. General admission is $5 for those age 13 and over and free for children age 12 and under.
