Eddie Cochran Car Show and Music Festival and city garage sales
Albert Lea’s annual Eddie Cochran Car Show and Music Festival will be this weekend in historic downtown Albert Lea. There will be family fun for all ages with live music Thursday through Saturday and the car show from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Salad and sloppy joe luncheon
First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea’s women’s ministry will host a salad luncheon with sloppy joes from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday at the church’s Bethany Hall. Cost of the meal is $10.

‘Green Thumbed’ comedic opera
Opera Athena, in co-production with Really Spicy Opera, will present the world premiere of “Green Thumbed,” a comedic opera about gardening by St. Paul playwright Tiffa Foster and composer Jamey Guzman, at 2 p.m. Saturday at the History Center of Freeborn County. This event is free to all attendees thanks to the Minnesota State Arts Board and other funders.

Circus Legends presentation
Join Chad Lewis, researcher, author and lecturer on strange and unusual topics, for June’s Bring Your Own Lunch and Learn from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday in the Council Chambers on the top floor of City Hall. Lewis will explain some of the fascinating folklore of Midwest circuses, from phantom elephants to circus superstitions and more. This is a free event.

Sonflower Puppets in Wells
There will be a free puppet show featuring Sonflower Puppets with Barbi Cox at 9:45 a.m. Thursday at the Wells Community Center. This event is open to all ages and presented by the Wells Public Library. It is made possible through a Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund grant.

Free pool party
Everyone is invited to a pool party from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Wells swimming pool. It will be a morning of free swimming for everyone sponsored by FariCARES, a Faribault County nonprofit looking to promote positive behavior changes for community youth. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

June Sips & Bites at Lazy Acre Vineyard
Join Lazy Acre Vineyard for an evening of fun and food from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the vineyard, 4776 Bluebill Ave. in Lake Mills. Smokin’ Mana’s will be there with their brand new food truck.
