Albert Lea’s Noah Teeter places 3rd at state golf; team places 6th

The Albert Lea boys’ golf team traveled to Ridges at Sand Creek Golf Course in Jordan Tuesday and Wednesday, competing in the Class AA state golf tournament.

After a tough first round, finishing the day in eighth place of eight teams, the Tigers battled back to climb a couple spots on day two, finishing in sixth place with a score of 621.

Junior Noah Teeter also completed his tournament in a tie for third place, just two strokes behind the state champion.

Teeter led the Tigers with a two-day total of 145 (+1), shooting an even par in the first round, following that up with a 73 (+1) on day 2.

Senior Archie Nelson was the next highest finishing Tiger, finishing with a two-day score of 150 (+6). He shot a 79 (+7) in the first round but came back strong with a 71 (-1) in the second round.

Also scoring for Albert Lea were senior Logan Stadheim and junior Ben Rasmussen, who both finished in 65th place with scores of 163 (+19). Stadheim had rounds of 83 and 80, while Rasmussen finished with rounds of 85 and 78.

Senior Nick Belshan and junior Evan Anfinson also competed for the Tigers but missed out on scoring. Belshan finished in 83rd place with a score of 177 (+33), and Anfinson finished in 85th place with a score of 178 (+34).

A total of eight teams and 88 individual golfers competed in the tournament. Detroit Lakes won the competition with a team score of 586. Southwest Christian freshman Ryder Rose won the individual portion with the only score that went under par, winning with a score of 143 (-1).

 

United South Central individuals take 23rd, 29th at Class A tourney

United South Central senior Emma Heggen and junior Brennan Olson took part in the Class A girls and boys state golf tournament at Pebble Creek Golf Club in Becker.

Olson came in a tie for 23rd place with a total score of 160 (+16). Olson had a strong day one performance with a score of 77 (+5) and followed up with a day two score of 83 (+11).

Heritage Christian Academy junior Alex Rhode won the boys tournament with a score of 146 (+2).

Heggen finished in 29th place with a two-day total of 180 (+36). She completed each round with the same score of 90 (+18). Dawson-Boyd senior Lindsey Lund won the girls competition with a score of 152 (+8).
