Arlene Marion Egerdal, age 100, went to be with her Lord and Savior on June 18, 2025.
She is survived by her children, Jim, Jane, Susan (Joel) Bolthouse, and daughter-in-law Sharon and her children Melissa and Brian, 5 grandchildren, Laura, Jenna, Kyle, Caleb and Ethan (Jordan), one sister, Skip (Elva) Brenner and several nieces and nephews.
Arlene was born in Cannon Falls, MN on June 28, 1924 to Fred and Hattie Chellson. She grew up with two younger sisters, Skip and Lois. She attended school in Cannon Falls and graduated in 1941. She then received teaching certificate and taught country school for two years. She spent time working in Arizona with her sister for a few months and then moved back to Minnesota to be closer to home. She met Marvin Egerdal while working in St.Paul and they were married Oct 8, 1949. They chose to set up residence and raise their family in Albert Lea because it was between their respective family homes — Cannon Falls, MN and Charles City IA.
Arlene has lived a life of service and ministry. She enjoyed the neighborhood birthday club, serving as room mothers for school classes, YMCA-YMenettes, 4-H parental leader, helping in the craft building at the county fair, being involved in Presbyterian women’s circles, teaching Sunday school, leading the children’s choir, hosting Christian Women’s club and leading many of friendship Bible study coffees. She loved her time volunteering at the YFC office! Arlene enjoyed gardening, animals on the farm, flowers, being outdoors, learning new things, playing card games and Bible study. Her faith in Jesus and her family were her highest priorities.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Marvin, son David, granddaughter Toni, sister Lois Fabian and her husband Bob, niece Vicky, and brother in law, Logan Brenner.
Her service will be held on Monday, June 23, at 11 am at the First Presbyterian Church of Albert Lea. Visitation will be an hour before the service and a lunch will follow.
Memorials can be made to The First Presbyterian Church of Albert Lea, or Youth for Christ, 116 W. Clark St. Albert Lea.
