Carol Mae Olson, age 91, of Albert Lea, passed away surrounded by her family on June 15, 2025, at St. John’s Lutheran Home – The Woodlands.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, June 22 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM at Bonnerup Funeral and Cremation Services in Albert Lea. A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 23 at 2:00 PM with a brief visitation one hour prior at First Lutheran Church of Albert Lea, 301 W. Clark Street, Albert Lea, with interment to follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Albert Lea.
Carol was born in Albert Lea on December 5, 1933 to Ole and Carolyn (Flanagan) Troe. She graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1951. On Sept 25, 1955 she married the love of her life, Roger D. Olson at First Lutheran Church, of which Carol has been a life long member. Together, the two raised their family in Albert Lea.
Carol was devout in her faith and an integral part of First Lutheran Church of Albert Lea. She was part of the Altar Guild, Domestic Engineer Club, First Lutheran Church Circle, and the Life and Growth Commission.
Outside of church, she was an avid bowler and enjoyed playing dominoes with the ladies’ group. She enjoyed following all Minnesota Sports teams, and had fond memories of cruising with Roger in their ’54 Chevy.
Above all else, her family meant the world to her. She loved spending time with everyone in her family, and her grandchildren and great-grand children were her pride and joy.
She is survived by her son, Greg (Kim) Olson; grandchildren Matt (Calli) Olson, Cassy Olson, Ashley Olson, Zach (Jordan) Olson, and Derek Olson; and great-grandchildren Lyla, Emma, Joelle, Tatum, Isabelle, Parker, and Kennedy Olson.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents; husband Roger Duane Olson; daughter Kim Goddard; and siblings Ed and Mel Troe.
Memorial donations can be made in Carol’s name and memory to the Kim M. Goddard Scholarship or Peace and Power by way of First Lutheran Church of Albert Lea.
