To the return of Wind Down Wednesday next week.

After weather put a damper on most of the Wind Down Wednesday festivities last summer, we’re excited for the return of the summer festival next week and have our fingers crossed for blue skies.

Wind Down Wednesday gives people a chance to come together to enjoy music, food, shopping, children’s activities and other festivities, and it is a fun time for anyone who attends.

We hope for a good season this year, and encourage everyone to check it out. Carve out a little time in your day on Wednesday and head downtown for lunch or stop by there after work with the whole family.

To all those in the community who contributed to the All Together Albert Lea Inclusive Playground.

There was a feeling of magic in the air at the grand opening celebration for the new All Together Albert Lea Inclusive Playground Thursday night.

After almost four years of fundraising, dozens gathered at the new playground to check out the equipment, celebrate the achievements of the community and to plan for the next phases of the project.

Both young and old attended the event, and it was fun seeing multiple generations of families taking part in activities together.

Thank you to all of the people, businesses and organizations who contributed to the project. We hope it will be a destination for people both inside and outside the community for many years to come.

To news that a candidate has accepted a tentative agreement for the Freeborn County assessor position.

Freeborn County Board Chairman Brad Edwin at the county board meeting this week said that a candidate for the county’s assessor position had accepted a tentative agreement for the position.

The county has been without a full-time assessor since mid-October, though it has received some assistance from a few other counties, as well as the former assessor for a brief

period.

The search has been long, and the county has received multiple extensions to fill the position.
We hope the agreement proves successful and that we will be seeing this position filled soon.
