Three Albert Lea athletes will compete Saturday in the Beastmode Fighting Championships 7 at the North Iowa Events Center in Mason City.

According to professional fighter and event promoter Darrius Flowers, the mixed martial arts competition will feature grappling and amateur kickboxing.

Faustino Moreno, one of the athletes from Albert Lea, will compete in a jiu jitsu match for middleweight ninja intermediate title, according to Flowers.

Justis Allen of Albert Lea is not new to the combat sports scene, but it has been a while since he competed.

Allen participated back in 2017, Flowers said, and he recently became motivated to get back into the sport.

Albert Lea athlete Steven Larson will compete in this fight for the first time, and he has been training for just under a year.

ā€œI’m just excited to see the guy get their hand raised and, you know, try to move on … seeing all their work paying off,ā€ Flowers said. He added that this will be the 11th BFC competition held since September.

Only UFC currently hosts more competitions than BFC, he said.

The competition will be in the All Seasons Building of the North Iowa Events Center. The doors will open at 6 p.m. with the first fight beginning at 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at xtraseats.com/events/beastmode-fighting-championships-7-a62d
