The Hatch Makerspace, a future regional hub, is slated to host its first community open house from 4 to 8 p.m. June 18 at its new location, 232 S. Washington Ave. in Albert Lea.
The Hatch is a member-led, artisan and fabrication studio designed to host and support startup businesses, train hands-on learning and trade skills, youth training and adult certification and launch local talent who have big ideas and no garage to build them in. Members will be able to access space and over $300,000 worth of high end tools and equipment.
People at the open house will be able to see the 25,000 feet of creative workspace and discover the wide range of disciplines The Hatch will support, from textiles and wallpaper printing to 3-D modeling, laser cutting, lapidary, woodworking, metal fabrication, glasswork, pottery and more.
“If you’ve ever said, I wish I had the tools, the space or the support to make this real, or I could make a business out of this or I could have the chance to go from idea to income, The Hatch is for you. Whether you’re 8 or 80, this is your chance to build something for yourself,” said The Hatch founder Nic Lang.
