The National Weather Service confirmed Friday that the Wednesday tornado that damaged several outbuildings at a farm northeast of Hartland was an EF-1 tornado with winds up to 105 mph.
The weather agency stated the tornado began as an EF-0 with wind speeds of 70 mph north of 305th Street southwest of Hartland at about 4:32 p.m.
The tornado traveled northeast for 3.8 miles, according to drone video, crossing 310th Street, 685th Avenue, Pond Road, Minnesota Highway 13 and 325th Street before it increased wind speeds to 105 mph and hit the farm, pulling off the metal roof and wall panels from a newly constructed machine shed rated for winds of 100 mph.
Several poles were also knocked over with debris around them across the street from the farm before the tornado continued its northeastern path, slowing back down to 70 mph before it dissipated north of 325th Street and west of 710th Avenue.
The Weather Service stated the tornado was on the ground from 4:32 to 4:40 p.m. and had a maximum width of 25 yards.
Reports are still being analyzed for other tornadoes that day across south central and southeast Minnesota.
