Weather Service receives 7 reports of tornadoes in Freeborn, Steele counties

The National Weather Service received seven reports of tornadoes Wednesday afternoon as severe weather moved through the area.

According to the weather agency, the reports started at about 3:40 p.m. with a funnel cloud two miles southwest of Alden.

The following tornado reports were given:

• 3:42 p.m.: Multiple reported a tornado two miles southwest of Alden

• 4 p.m.: Law enforcement reported a tornado over Freeborn Lake, one mile south of Freeborn

• 4:26 p.m.: Law enforcement reported a tornado just west of Freeborn

• 4:26 p.m.: Freeborn County emergency manager reported tornado gaining strength two miles west of Freeborn

• 4:33 p.m.: Damage was reported to barn and shed at residence from a tornado two miles northeast of Hartland

• 4:37 p.m.: Law enforcement reported a tornado at the intersection of 310th Street and 685th Avenue one mile west of Hartland

• 4:44 p.m.: Law enforcement reported a tornado two miles southwest of Ellendale
