The community is invited to kick off summer in style at Wind Down Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. June 11 in downtown Albert Lea. This free, family-friendly event features live music, local vendors, kids’ activities, fitness classes, food trucks and more.
The day’s entertainment will begin with live acoustic Americana from 8th Hour from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by a gentle Chair Tai Chi fitness class led by Sue from the Senior Center from 1:30 to 2 p.m. At 2:15 p.m., kids can join in the fun with Minute to Win It challenges, followed by a high-energy Zumba Jams mini class with Kristy from 3 to 3:30 p.m. The day will end on a high note with a full concert by the Tony Cuchetti Band from 6 to 8 p.m., bringing foot-thumping country, rock and soul to the streets of downtown.
Additional activities throughout the day include face painting, yard games, bounce houses, train rides, cold drinks, vendor booths and food trucks. The first 25 attendees will receive a free swag bag filled with goodies from local businesses.
“We’re excited to bring back Wind Down Wednesday for another summer of music, movement, and community, despite last year’s unfortunate weather,” event coordinators said in a news release. “It’s a great way to support local businesses, enjoy downtown and celebrate everything that makes Albert Lea special.”
Local businesses are encouraged to get involved by sponsoring the event or donating 25 items for the popular Swag Bag giveaway. It’s a free and effective way to gain visibility and connect with attendees.
