Celebrate Independence Day all weekend in Bricelyn

Bricelyn will host its annual Fourth of July celebration this week starting Friday and continuing into Sunday.
Events kick off on the Fourth of July with pulled pork sandwiches at the fire hall from 5 to 7 p.m. and a free family movie at 7:30 p.m., also at the fire hall. There will also be a Hymn Sing-Along at 7 p.m. at the Bricelyn Museum.
On Saturday, the annual Ron Sander Memorial Run, a one-mile walk/run or 5K, will start the day. Registration begins at 8 a.m. The one-mile run or walk begins at 8:30 a.m., followed by the 5k run and walk at 9 a.m.
At 9 a.m., a co-ed volleyball tournament is also slated at City Park, and at 10 a.m., there will be a Legion mural ceremony at the Legion. Food, including burgers and salad, will also be available at the Legion from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The annual parade will begin at 1 p.m. led by this year’s grand marshal, Mike Gormley, former Faribault County sheriff. After the parade, there will be several activities available.
A sanctioned pedal pull for children ages 4 to 11 will be for free right after the parade around Main Street.
There will also be a horse show at Dr. Jack Peterson’s arena, and at city park there will be balloon art, a petting zoo, bounce houses, a foam party and an antique tractor show.
The American Legion will host a corn hole tournament and offer an ice cream sundae bar and floats throughout the afternoon.
At 4 p.m., the Bricelyn fire hall will host a chicken BBQ meal, which includes barbecue chicken, potato salad, beans, dessert and beverage.
Fireworks round out the day at dusk, followed by a dance with live music until midnight at the Legion.
On Sunday, the firemen’s pancake breakfast will take place from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the fire hall, and the community worship in the park is slated at 10 a.m. In case of inclement weather, it will move to Bricelyn Lutheran Church.
Also at 10 a.m., there will be an antique tractor pull at the Landus Lot. Registration begins at 9 a.m.
The Bricelyn Museum and the Little Red School House will be open from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, or by appointment.
