Scarville on the Fourth this year includes a full day of activities and fun for people of all ages.
Events kick off with a pancake breakfast at 7 a.m. at Scarville Lutheran School, 411 Logan St. in Scarville. The fundraiser includes pancakes, sausage patties, scrambled eggs, orange juice and coffee for a freewill donation.
At 9:30 a.m.: the Scarville Bar will open for a Bloody Mary bar. Enjoy a morning filled with laughter, community and, of course, a Bloody Mary.
Children who would like to take part in the kiddie bike rally are asked to gather on the north end of Main Street at 9:45 a.m. Bikes should be decorated in festive red, white and blue, and once all of the bikes are organized, they will parade down Main Street at 10 a.m. to show off their decorations.
After the bike rally, the Scarville Parade will begin at 10:30 a.m., featuring the Lake Mills High School marching band, floats, cars, special causes and more. The parade will come through twice for twice the candy. Participants should line up on the north end of Main Street by 10 a.m.
Immediately following the end of the parade, Somethin’ Country will perform. Somethin’ Country band member Paula Hanson opened for Tim McGraw and Chris Jansen a few years ago at Treetown Music Festival. After the band will be Jesse Calvert.
As you get hungry for lunch, head up to the Scarville Fire Hall for their annual Burger Feed Fundraiser. Meal consists of burgers, potato salad, baked beans, chips, iced tea and lemonade. Cost will be by freewill donation.
Scarville Bar will also start serving pizza for $5 for a quarter of a pizza, starting at noon. A bags tournament will also begin at that time.
After lunch, at 12:30 p.m., will be the egg toss. Special categories will be announced.
Cool down after the egg toss with ice cream and homemade bars at 2 p.m. in the Shelter House before the water ball competition, hosted by the Scarville Fire Department at 2:30 p.m. Fire departments will clash in a display of skill and teamwork, battling with powerful hoses to push a ball to the opposing team’s side.
At 3 p.m., the Scarville Bar will come alive with music.
The day will wrap up with a fireworks celebration at 10 p.m. Bring your blankets, lawn chairs and the whole family to watch the fireworks, which will be set off in the north side of town.
