The community is invited to soak up the summer fun at the second Wind Down Wednesday of the season on July 9, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. in beautiful historic downtown Albert Lea. This free, family-friendly event features live music, local vendors, kids’ activities, fitness classes, food trucks and more.
The day’s entertainment begins with acoustic rock by Jeff Reinartz from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by a gentle Chair Tai Chi fitness class led by Sue from the Senior Center from 1:30 to 2 p.m. At 2:15 p.m., families can enjoy the ever-popular “Minute to Win It” game challenge — contestants can sign up on the day of the event. At 5:45 p.m., the Dance Team Camp will take the stage with a high-energy summer camp performance. The night will wrap up with a full concert from BYOBrass, a high-energy brass band, from 5 to 8 p.m.
Additional activities throughout the day include face painting, yard games, bounce houses, train rides, cold drinks, vendor booths and food trucks. The first 25 attendees will receive a free swag bag filled with goodies from local businesses.
“We’re excited to continue the summer celebration with another great Wind Down Wednesday,” said event coordinators in a press release. “It’s a perfect day to enjoy live entertainment, support local businesses and bring the community together.”
Organizers thanked their sponsors for helping make Wind Down Wednesday possible: Golden Bubble, Unique Realty, Dave Syverson, Design Ready Controls, Arcadian Bank, Freeborn-Mower Electric Cooperative, Renewal by Andersen and Albert Lea Area Schools.
