Marjorie (Smith) Fure, age 80, of Kiester, died Monday, July 11, 2005, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester from complications relating to a heart attack.

Memorial Services

will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 16, 2005, at Trinity Lutheran Church, rural Kiester, with the Rev. Chris Fiske officiating. Visitation will be held at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Bricelyn on Friday, July 15, from 6 to 8 p.m., and one hour prior to services at church on Saturday. Interment will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, rural Kiester.

Marjorie Fure was born Aug. 25, 1924, in Buena Vista Township, Jasper County, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence E. and Grace (Ziegler) Smith. She was baptized at Pleasant View Methodist Church in Newton, Iowa, in 1936 and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in rural Kiester in 1962. She graduated from Newton High School in Newton, IA in 1942. She married Lloyd Anderson on June 28, 1942, and three children were born to this union: Lloyd E. Anderson, Raymond I. Anderson and Nancy J. Hassebroek. The marriage dissolved in Sept. of 1959. She married Philip H. Scherb on June 26, 1962. He died on October 19, 1982. She married Glen Fure on Aug. 26, 1984. Marjorie was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school and a member of the WELCA. She taught grade school in country school. She was an LPN for 16 years, having finished school after her children were grown. She spent winters in Texas for 19 years. She enjoyed reading books especially cookbooks. She loved to cook and bake. She loved flowers, playing cards and dancing.

She is survived by her husband, Glen Fure of Kiester; daughter, Nancy and husband Wilbert Hassebroek of Buffalo Center, Iowa; sons: Raymond and wife Marilyn Anderson of Newton, Iowa, and

Lloyd E. Anderson of Round Rock, Texas; step-sons: Gerald Scherb of Kiester, Merle Scherb of Twin Lakes, Gene and wife Wanda Scherb of Appleton, Wis., and Kirk and wife Lesia Fure of Kiester; step-daughter, Tamara (Fure) Hauan of Kiester; numerous grandchildren, step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren and great-step-grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Marjorie Smith of Monroe, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Philip Scherb; three sisters; one brother; step-sons: Keith, Duane and Audene Fure; granddaughter, Jill Hassebroek; and one step-granddaughter, Mandy Hauan.
