The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook that includes a chance of hail for Saturday night across parts of Minnesota, Iowa and Wisconsin, including the Albert Lea area.

The forecast also says tornadoes are possible.

The outlook states severe thunderstorms are likely to develop near the Iowa border and lift northward overnight across southern Minnesota toward the Stillwater area and into west central Wisconsin.

“The main threat of severe weather will be from large hail and possible damaging winds,” it states. “An isolated tornado is possible across far southern Minnesota this evening, near the Interstate 90 corridor.”

National Weather Service outlooks issued for northern Iowa reflect similar language:

“The potential for very large hail, damaging winds and tornadoes will exist for the area, especially this evening.”

The NWS forecast also says another round of storms is expected for northern Iowa and southern Minnesota on Sunday afternoon. It says the area could see large hail, strong winds and a chance of isolated tornadoes.
