Hansen nominated for Good Works Team

A former Glenville-Emmons football player has been nominated for the most prestigious off-the-field honor in college football.

Logan Hansen, a defensive lineman and senior at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa, was nominated for the 2011 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team, according to a news release.

Nominees for the Good Works Team as considered protectors of the integrity of college football through their achievements away from the field. Hansen reads and mentors children weekly at Bremwood Lutheran School, an at-risk institution, in Waverly and volunteers for the Special Olympics Iowa Unified Sports Day committee.

According to the release, from the 132 nominees, the most ever in the 20-year history of the award, two 11-player Good Works Teams will be selected an announced in late September – one for the Football Bowl Subdivision (Division I-A) and one for the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision, Divisions II, III and NAIA.
