Websites across nation go down

Amazon is known as a shopping website, but it also provides web servers for companies across the country. On Monday, an outage at an Amazon web server in Virginia caused many websites to crash, including the Albert Lea Tribune’s website.

Even some nationally known websites, such as Pinterest, Netflix and Reddit, were down.

The Tribune’s website was back up and providing news again by the evening.

“We are investigating the root cause,” Amazon Web Services said on its status-of-service page.
