Ascension Lutheran Church Women

The Ascension Lutheran Church Women of ELCA held their monthly meeting on Oct. 15 at 9:30 a.m.

Co-President Doris Guenthner called the meeting to order and led devotions.

Secretary’s report was given by Lorraine Schaper and was approved as printed in the newsletter. Due to the absent of the treasurer, there was no report for this meeting.

Members discussed as to where donations to be made from the Time & Talent Bazaar.

The benefit for Jeff and Mary Laeger-Hagemeister was on Oct. 28 at First Lutheran Church in Bethany Hall. Soup luncheon and silent auction was from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. A live auction was at 1 p.m. Music was at 2 p.m. and at 2:30 p.m. was bars, coffee and fellowship.

A special thank you to Sandy Johnson for the lovely two hand-sewed craft items she made to donate for the silent auction from Ascension for Jeff and Mary Laeger-Hagemeister Benefit.

Mission in Growth Chairman, Joan Anderson suggested that the group remember that gently-used clothing may also be donated to be used in the community to the location on James Avenue across from the Old Ramsey School.

A special thank you to Ruth Furland for her beautiful and hard work she did in completing 28 school kit back packs. She made them from sample fabric materials donated from Brick Furniture.

Doris Guenthner presented the sign up sheet for different Circle Projects at St. John’s Lutheran Home.

Time & Talent Bazaar at Ascension on Saturday begins at 8 a.m. with lefse, crafts and bake sale. There will also be morning coffee and a noon lunch.

Thank offering service will be at both services on Nov. 18.

Dec. 2 is Lutefish and Swedish Meatball Dinner at Ascension at 5 p.m.

The next meeting will be at 9:30 a.m. Dec. 9.

The meeting closed with the Lord’s Prayer.
