WOODBURY — A mother whose son was fatally shot by Woodbury police as he fled from a motel standoff in August said she wants to bury him, but can’t.

Tawana Henderson said the body of her 19-year-old son, Mark, is being held by the Ramsey County Medical Examiner as evidence. Henderson was among 11 hostages held at gunpoint in a room at the Red Roof Inn. Tawana Henderson said her son escaped from the room and was running to safety when he was killed by police.

Three Woodbury officers have been on paid administrative leave while the state Bureau of Criminal Apprehension conducts an investigation into the shooting. Henderson said she still doesn’t have any answers. She said authorities haven’t apologized or even talked to her since her son was killed.
