Victoria Larson banked in a three-quarters court shot to give the Riverland women’s basketball team a last-second win over NIACC 65-64 in Riverland Gym Wednesday.

Larson took the in-bounds pass with four seconds left and launched a one-handed heave as time was running out from her own backcourt on the game-winner. Larson, a freshman from Bangor, Wis., finished with 14 points and four rebounds, while hitting 4-of-6 from downtown.

“We’ve got a lot of fight in this team,” RCC head coach Suzy Hebrink said. “It was close all the way and we kept battling.”

The Blue Devils (3-0 overall) had 43 turnovers, but they shot 46 percent from the field, while holding NIACC to 26 percent shooting from the field.

Austin grad Rebekah Aase had 19 points, 25 rebounds, four assists and two blocked shots before fouling out late in the game.
